No longer are the islands of the South Pacific a potential paradise when a tsunami can slam a 60 ft. high wall of water and make them disappear in seconds like Northern Japan did just a few days ago. God must be shaking the earth to get the people's attention first. Dear Jan-I am honored to have you select one of my paintings for your 2012 show heaven and hell. I feel sure the painting of the dragon encompassing the globe is at the Webb Gallery in Waxahachie Texas but I am still waiting for their confirmation and have not been able to contact them either by e-mail or phone to get an answer yet, that is they have not answered my e-mail or phone call yet Should this not be the case my only option would be to offer to paint another exact impression of the subject but cannot guarantee it would be 100% the same, maybe 90 percent and may be some detail areas even better but it is difficult to make promises. It would be on 1.5 inch stretcher bars with either 8 or 12 oz canvas. May I ask the date you would require delivery. I will inquire of the University of Memphis if they remember where the painting went from there. I did reach Julie late today at Webb Gallery and she is going to try and locate this painting. As far other paintings you may have suggested in your first email. I envision a painting of both heaven and hell in size about 10 by 12 ft. on canvas rolled as most of my large murals are and I will probably be painting those scenes this year regardless. The juried aspect of the show required does not encourage me to try and compete although you are welcome to come here to see my work, you are welcome to show my work. (no charge). I do not normally enter juried shows because I cannot manage all the required logistics'. My perception of heaven & hell may be much the same as most artists based on spiritual references and symbols of prophecy of Old and New Testament in particular the Book of Revelation. My 300 ft painting Revelation Revealed has scenes of the Apostle John being caught up into Heaven and if I repainted that scene or those scenes I would try to improve a number of ways. It is much easier for me to paint hell than heaven and I paint Heaven reluctantly because the Bible frowns on creating like substitute images. First I painted the New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven as a 4 square block but was later convinced that it was in a triangle similar to the pyramid symbol. You can see this new shape on my Revelation Now 12 by 36 ft. painting on my website of The New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven that I did for the South Carolina State Museum. I am inspired to paint the Tree of Life and the Throne of God with the Water of Life coming out with the streets of Gold and the heavenly choir. The Tree of Life was in the Garden of Eden then again in the Book of Revelation prophecy with all matter of fruits. It is exciting to think about trying to create the image of heaven to show its magnificence. Imagine a place of no darkness and no death, no pain or suffering. Revelation Chapter 21 & 22 gets very specific "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2-And I John saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem ... as a bride adorned for her husband. 4-And God shall wipe away all tears and... death 5-And he that sat upon the throne said, behold, I make all things new. 12-And had a wall great and high and had 12 gates, (sounds like it's outside) verse18 And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations were garnished with all manner of precious stones, Jasper, Sapphire, Chalcedony, Emerald, Sardonyx, Sardius; Chrysolyte; Beryl; topaz; Chrysoprasus; jacinth. 21-And the 12 gates were 12 pearls;... and the streets of the city was pure gold as it were transparent glass-(the gates stayed open forever)-(nothing shall enter that defiles it and all of those whose names are written in Lambs book of life... Chapter 22,1-And he showed me a pure river of water of life clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb (imagine painting that) 2-In the midst of the street of it and on either side of the river, was there the Tree of Life which bare 12 manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nation's. (Imagine that) 3-And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4-And they shall see his face and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5-And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun: for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign forever and ever." (No way could I ever begin to describe this spectacular beauty. I do believe it is time to picture heaven in a more comprehensive detail form.) I wish you the best with the show but suggest it may not be complete without revealing the above unimaginable scenes in prophecy art whether I paint them or someone else paints them. I would really prefer someone else paint them as it sure needs to be shown. Of course we both know all paintings of heaven and hell are speculation although there are some pretty exciting artwork done of heaven you are probably already in touch with. The Book of Revelation is the only history book really describing heaven. It seems to me that very little art has ever been painted specifically on the subject, especially on heaven.
